If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all!
I would love to say my mother taught me that, but the truth of the matter is I am not sure she and that idea ever actually sat in the same room together. Yet somewhere along the way I actually learned this concept. I have found that I get much further in life by pointing out the positives instead of the negatives. Yet it seems I often throw people of kilter for doing that. The whole idea of complimenting someone simply for the sake of conveying information seems a foreign one these days. Some are downright suspicious if you actually say or do something nice for them without expecting anything in return!
I don’t get it.
Is it really easier to be mean than to be nice? Am I doing it all wrong?
If I am then I will continue to choose to do it “all wrong”. Because I would much rather be a nice (if maybe naive) guy and create a smile then the seemingly more common selfish meanie who thrives on other’s discomfort and pain.
So I am going to throw out some random niceness and positive thoughts just cuz. Maybe it will help someone out there.
You! (Yeah you!) You are absolutely beautiful! Inside and out!! And don’t let anyone (including yourself) convince you otherwise!!
And as for you! You have the most amazing smile I have ever seen!! It lights up rooms!! Keep smiling!!
And you there! You seem to be feeling a little under the weather. Well have a healing hug and lots of healing thoughts. I have faith you will feel better!!
Oh I will surely not leave you out. You are truly skilled and will no doubt succeed at whatever you set your mind to! I am sure of this!!
You over there! You can’t hide from me. I will tell you how absolutely amazing you are even if you don’t want to hear it! You need the reminder!!
I don’t know about you guys, but I sure feel better! Try it out sometime. It is really amazing how a simple act of unrewarded kindness can brighten a day!
