The Mail

The other cards tumbled to the floor like the snow outside the door. She tilted sideways against the wall for support. The grandfather clock drummed out the seconds, sapping holiday joy from the fairy lights, leeching colour from the tinsel, silencing radio carols. She stroked the words with her thumb.
My ending:
It was hard to believe they had found her so soon. Reaching deeply inside herself she found her courage. Straightening, she gathered the fallen cards and set everything back in order. There was still time. No need for everyone’s holiday to be ruined. Yet she was already planning her attack.
